Forget the sequels, the first Halloween movie is where it all began! Michael myers first appears as a teenager living with his aunt who takes him to an old, isolated barn to do some chores. After an argument with his aunt, he goes outside and sees a young girl, Annie, walking to her house.
After watching her for a few moments, he attacks her, but is knocked unconscious by a stone thrown by Annie’s older brother. After waking up in the hospital, Michael is told that The original Halloween movie was heavily inspired by The Thing (a great horror film by the way).
The film’s writer, John Carpenter, was inspired by the 1958 film Planet of the Apes and a book called The Incredible Transplant, which involves a man who receives a brain transplant from a gorilla and becomes a human being.
Carpenter really liked the idea of a human being with superhuman strength, and decided to use a “monster” as his main character. In the original Halloween, Michael Myers is portrayed by Bobby Green. At the time, Green was only sixteen years old and had never acted before. Carpenter was so impressed with Green’s acting skills that he decided to make Bobby the star of the Halloween sequel.
But that wasn’t the only reason why he chose Green for the role. The young actor also resembled the infamous murderer, who was born in 1963.
