This is how we roll documentary second?

We edit as we shoot, so our footage is ready for editing as soon as the cameras stop rolling. We also have an amazing sound team on board that records every moment of your day in 4K to make sure your story is told in crystal-clear sound.

And while we’re always looking for ways to improve our editing process, we’ve eliminated the need for re-edits. Every edit is done in-house by a team of editors who are experts in their craft We believe that the best way to make a documentary is to be intimate with your subject and to gain the trust of your subjects so that you can get the footage you need.

We put our subjects at ease and let them guide the interview process. Sometimes that means asking questions we don’t know the answer to. Sometimes, it means not asking questions at all. And sometimes it means asking the same question over and over again to try and get a different reaction.

We believe in working with the storyteller, not dictating how they tell it. Our documentary approach means that we’re flexible and work with you to get the story you want. We don’t stick to a strict timeline or have you reshoot your footage if it doesn’t meet our standards.

We believe in giving our subjects the space to tell their story and encourage them to trust us with their story.

This is how we roll documentary day?

At the start of every day, we sit down to watch the last few pieces of footage from the previous day. This helps us stay current with what’s going on with our subjects. We collect all pertinent notes and organize them. In the meantime, we take photos and compile a list of what we want to shoot that day.

Then, we head out to take photos and footage of whatever the day may bring. Every day is different, but generally speaking, we book as many shoots as we can for the day, then we decide which ones are most important to document and schedule those.

That might mean skipping out on a few other people to make sure we have enough time to shoot our top priority. The goal is to make sure no one feels like a number on our schedule, so we make sure to pay attention to each person’s needs and wants and make sure everyone gets the attention they deserve. “Rolling” is a bit of a misnomer, as it’s not as easy as it sounds.

Documentaries are often long, multi-day shoots, so how do we manage to keep everyone happy and on the same page? We keep a running list of what we need to accomplish each day and break down our plans into smaller goals.

While we’re planning our day, we try to anticipate what might happen and make sure we have the gear necessary to

This is how we roll documentary first?

We shoot documentary before we create a story. We don’t cut together a narrative from existing footage or start with the story idea first. We use our documentary skills and knowledge to produce a true and authentic story.

The production team is committed to building an authentic relationship with you and your story before they start shooting, so the documentary will start out as a true collaboration between the subjects and the filmmakers. We want to find out what makes your story unique and compelling, hear what you want to say, and help you shape your story into something that will resonate with an audience.

You can get a feel for how documentary first works by watching any of the incredible documentaries produced by the PBS series POV. The way we do documentary first is very similar. The biggest difference is that documentary first production teams are flexible and willing to adapt to the story.

They’re not worried about following a strict timeline or sticking to a certain production style. We’re willing to change course if something isn’t working and make the necessary adjustments.
