Does OSF prompt care do x-rays?
OSF prompt care does not perform x-rays on any patient. All x-rays are either performed by a referring provider or by an outside facility. It’s important to remember that patients should never undergo an x-ray without the authorization of their physician.
If you have questions about x-rays and whether or not they are appropriate for your condition, please contact your physician. In some cases, dentist may want to take x-rays of patients before performing a procedure to better understand the patient’s condition.
However, neither OSF prompt care nor OSF Dental Partners use x-rays to diagnose oral diseases. Patients should not submit x-rays of their teeth to the practice unless they are experiencing symptoms that a dentist or specialist has already determined to be related to an oral problem.
Does OSF prompt care do medical x-rays?
Yes, osf prompt care does offer medical x-rays, usually done for a routine checkup. If you need an x-ray for a more serious issue, a doctor will refer you to an independent facility for imaging. Yes, we do offer medical x-ray services for qualifying patients.
After you schedule an appointment, you will need to submit a Health History Questionnaire. This will be used to determine if x-rays are an option for you. Currently, we offer medical x-ray services for patients with broken bones, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cancer and heart disease.
Does OSF prompt care do MRIs?
Yes, MRI is another diagnostic test that can be done as part of the exam. If you’re worried about a spinal issue or other health problem that could be causing your sore spots, an MRI can show your doctor if there’s degeneration or other issues that might require further intervention.
If you have a spinal issue, an MRI may be the best way to get the full picture of your condition. While x-rays can show if bones are broken, they can’t show the soft tissue surrounding these bones. An MRI can help your doctor determine if your condition is spinal arthritis or a herniated disc.
Does OSF prompt care do teeth X-ray?
No, OSF does not offer teeth x-rays. However, dentists who are partners with OSF may refer patients to local dentists for teeth x-rays. Some dentists also offer teeth x-ray exams in their offices. We recommend speaking with your dentist to find out if they offer teeth x-rays.
While teeth x-rays are often used to detect issues in the teeth, such as cavities, they are not a tool for diagnosing the health of the teeth or gums. They cannot detect oral cancer and will not tell a dentist which teeth are infected. If you have questions about oral cancer or are experiencing a sore spot or patch in your gums, contact your dentist for an exam.
Does OSF prompt care do CT scan?
If you have a medical emergency requiring immediate attention, call 911. Our staff will not perform CT scans or radiographs without contacting your physician first. We do not perform x-rays on walk-in patients unless they are for a legitimate medical purpose, such as a broken bone. The answer is yes.
At most facilities, CT scan is offered for patients who have had a head injury, spinal trauma, or certain types of cancer. The use of CT scan in diagnosing oral cancer is still being debated, so if you are wondering about OSF prompt care’s use of this procedure, talk to your dentist.
